Compare PDFs
Compare an original and revised PDF to identify text added or removed from individual pages, spot page-count changes and export a review report.
Compare the selectable text page by page. PDF files stay in this browser; scanned pages without text need OCR first. This tool does not compare page images, formatting, fonts or visual positioning.
How to compare two PDFs
- Select the original PDF as PDF A and the revised document as PDF B.
- Choose Compare PDFs. The tool extracts selectable text and compares corresponding pages and lines.
- Review added and removed lines, page-count differences and summary counts. Export a plain-text report to keep a record of the detected text changes.
The comparison uses a line-based text diff. It is useful for reviewing document wording, but text extraction order can differ from the visual page layout. Pages with very large amounts of text may use a bounded-memory approximate comparison and are labelled accordingly.
What this comparison checks — and what it does not
This tool compares selectable text and reports page-count differences. It does not perform a visual pixel comparison and may not detect changes to images, diagrams, signatures, font styles, colors, positioning or other non-text elements. If two pages contain no selectable text, the tool cannot confirm whether their scans or images are identical.
Both PDFs are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our application server. Password-protected, damaged or unsupported files may fail. For scanned documents, run OCR first; then compare the searchable versions.
When PDF comparison is useful
Compare revised contracts, reports, policies, lecture notes or drafts to locate wording changes without manually reading every page. Review the original pages before relying on the report, especially for legal, financial or other high-impact documents.
